RANVIK FJORD FARM....Registered Norweigian Fjords

 As a decent of Norway, my love for this wonderful equine breed has evolved to owning these beautiful Fjords.  Ranvik was the farm name of my great grandfather in Norway,hense, our farm name Ranvik. 

The Norwegian Fjord (pronounced Fee-ord) Horse is Norway's oldest horse breed. It is estimated that the original Fjords migrated to Norway and the Scandinavian peninsula over 4,000 years ago and they were domesticated about 2,000 B.C. This pony was used by the Vikings for war mounts The Fjord Horse is distinguished by its unequaled dependability. They are easily broken and need no retraining, even after spending months at pasture untouched.

The Fjord's strength, clean lines and exceptionally adaptable nature have made them equally well suited to harness or saddle. They can be ridden English or Western, hunted, or driven in shows, parades and down country roads. Their mild manner makes them an ideal family horse, ridden or driven as easily by the novice or youngster as by the knowledgeable adult horseman.

Witteveen Golden Rubia

Rubias is a wonderful addition to our farm, many thanks to Dave and Dianne Pare-Witteveen of Witteveen Farms!

Rubias is known as a Red Dun,one of the rarest of the Fjord color genetics at 5% and considered a rare color for the Norweigian Fjords. Typically 90% of Fjords are Brown Duns and have black and white mane, dorsal stripe and zebra stripping on thier legs .  Rubias, is our big teddy bear of a stallion.  He has excellent conformation, great bone, and wonderful sweet disposition for a stallion.

LISLA as we call her, is named after my grandmother who was born and raised in Norway.

LITTLE  CREEK CIERRA  CFHA 3209 is one of our newest additions. a has had one foal prior to joining us here at Ranvik. She has also been started in harness We look forward to having her join us here.

"Victoria"

CFHA registered fjord mare, joining us from Straffordville Ontario.  Tori will become our program mascott and will be attending shows and trail rides to introduce the Norweigian Fjord breed to local northern ontario equine activities.

DANIEKA we call her, meaning Morning Star. A favorite Norweigian name.
